What He Sees in the Dark

I don’t know what he sees in the dark,
Just an arc of light,
Bright and dancing on the wall
That I can’t see at all?
Or something other?
Coming from further
Beyond our world,
Where we lie curled
Of an evening
And I, unbelieving,
Put it down once more
To the light
For I’m sure
That his eyes have the power
To see things at this hour
That make no sense to me.

This poem was inspired by a post I read on Jean Ryan’s wonderful blog, Life into Words. Ghost Stories really struck a chord with me. Thanks for the inspiration, Jean!
